New Mexico Vehicle Power of Attorney Form

The New Mexico vehicle power of attorney form is a document that allows a Principal to provide powers to an Agent to sell, purchase or do vehicle registration and titling on behalf of the Principal. This document is valid for 30 days unless the Principal has revoked the document prior to death.

This document must be signed before a notary public. The form may also be revoked by the Principal by written notice and delivery to the Agent.

How to Write

Step 1 – The Parties – Submit the following:

  • The Principal’s Name
  • AND
  • The name of the appointed Agent

Step 2 – Transaction and Vehicle Information – Provide the following:

  • Enter the type of Transaction being performed
  • Vehicle Make
  • Model
  • Model Year
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Step 3 – Signatures – Enter:

  • The Printed or Typed name of the Vehicle Owner
  • The Signature of the Vehicle Owner
  • Date of Signature in mm/dd/yyyy format

Step 4 – Notarization –

Once the Principal has completed the document and the Notary has witnessed the signatures, the notary will then complete the remainder of this section, applying all state required information to acknowledge the validity of the document

Step 5 – Affidavit of Appointed Agent- The Agent must complete the following information:

  • Signature of person submitting affidavit (Agent)
  • Date of Signature in mm/dd/yyyy format

Notarization of Affidavit-

Once the Agent has completed the Affidavit and the Notary has witnessed the Agent’s Signature, the Notary will then complete the remainder of this section, applying all state required information to acknowledge the validity of the Affidavit completed by the Agent
